Commonly Asked Questions

How secure are MaxCrypt encrypted volumes and how hard would it be for someone to decrypt my files?

AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) is a 256-bit encryption algorithm with no known 16-round attack. This means that someone would have to brute force attack the volume to decrypt it. Brute force means that someone would have to try every possible password to decrypt the volume. Even if thousands of computers were used, all working together to find the password, it could take thousands of years to decrypt the volume.

I have forgotten my password. Is there any way to recover my files?

If you have forgotten your password then there is nothing that can be done to recover files that are in an encrypted volume.

How do I upgrade to the Professional version of MaxCrypt Security Suite?

After purchasing a copy of the "Professional" version of the MaxCrypt Security Suite, you will receive an email with a link to download the professional version.  After installing your downloaded copy, the MaxCrypt Security Suite will automatically retrieve a license online.  You will NOT need to enter a registration code manually.
